A Fake News/Fake Feud- CNN, the Pee Tape, the Steele Dossier and all that. – “We the people”

0 10 months ago

INTRODUCTION

In a careful review of a timeline that contains relevant information from sources both right and left, I have determined that the “Fake News” allegations directed by President at CNN was part of a pre-scripted narrative designed to distract from the more serious allegations contained in the “Steele Dossier” by substituting a narrative of sex- specifically the “Pee Tape.”

Jeff Zucker, President of CNN, and President Trump have been friends since the days at NBC when Jeff Zucker was President of NBC Entertainment and Trump’s “The Apprentice” was soaring in television ratings. Trump has frequently associated with Jeff Zucker in public in a jovial manner. Trump tweeted support for Zucker when he moved to CNN in late 2012. Jeff Zucker’s wife, Caryn, has frequently associated with Ghislaine Maxwell, a close associate of Donald Trump. It is difficult to believe that a long friendship such as this would change so drastically around 2015 as Donald Trump decided to run for the White House. Cheri Jacobus is the only one who has provided any firsthand information on the Trump team having CNN “in their pocket.” The rest of what evidence I’ll present is circumstantial.

Before President Trump’s criticism of the FBI and James Comey started, Trump wanted Comey to investigate the “golden showers thing.” Trump had a very specific memory of his time in Russia around the time in question, told Comey that the allegations could not be true, and told Comey that there were witnesses who could help with this investigation to clear things up in order to protect his reputation for his wife’s sake. Trump pressed the issue when Comey responded that it was not a good idea.

In my opinion, distracting from serious crime allegations with scandalous sex is a tested and proven model thanks to Ken Starr, Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky. Attorney General Janet Reno appointed Robert Fiske to investigate “Whitewater” in early 1994. Kenneth Starr took over the investigation in August of 1994 as the investigation grew to include the extremely suspicious death of White House Counsel Vince Foster. The Starr Report was published in the Fall of 1998 with virtually no mention of the original basis for investigation. I believe that Donald Trump’s team similarly attempted to create a scandalous sex investigation, (which they knew would eventually be proven to be unfounded) to distract from the more serious allegations of Treason with Russia, and the murder of Mikhail Lesin (an unpublished part of the Steele dossier). If Trump’s team could prove one fact to be wrong- the “golden showers thing,” they could discredit the entire dossier of Christopher Steele. (I’ve written more on the Starr report and so forth here.)

Sergei Millian is reported to be Source D that passed along information to Christopher Steele on Trump’s activities at Trump’s November 2013 Miss Universe Pageant in Moscow. This would mean that Jared Kushner was communicating with a source in the Steele Dossier. Jared Kushner refused to turn over his communications with Sergei Millian to Congress. Kushner’s association with Millian raises the possibility that Kushner participated with a disinformation effort to discredit Christopher Steele’s work with false information. Oleg Deripaska was in frequent communication with Christopher Steele as well and communicated with Sergei Millian to an extent.

The timeline will be a little hard to follow because two timelines will run concurrently. One is a partial history of the relationship between Jeff Zucker and Donald Trump, just enough to highlight the length and nature of the relationship. The other is a timeline of the “golden showers” information contained in the “Steele dossier.”

TIMELINE BEGINS.

December 2000. Jeff Zucker moves from NBC’s news division to become President of NBC Entertainment.

2003. Jeff Zucker first exposed Donald Trump to a national audience when, as NBC Entertainment chief in 2003, he commissioned The Apprentice.

January 14, 2004. “2004 NBC Winter Press Tour All Star Party”
“HOLLYWOOD – JANUARY 14: (L to R) Producer Mark Burnett, Donald Trump and Jeff Zucker, president, NBC Entertainment, News and Cable attend the 2004 NBC Winter Press Tour All-Star Party at the Highlands on January 14, 2004 in Hollywood, California. (Photo by Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images).”

February 2004. Donald Trump and Jeff Zucker are pictured together here at the Friar’s Roast.

April 2004. “The Apprentice” scores great ratings. “The president of NBC Entertainment, Jeff Zucker, said the ratings proved that ”The Apprentice” had become ”the cultural phenomenon of the television season.”’

2006. Bruce Ohr is part of a team that bans the entry of Oleg Deripaska into the United States.

2007. Bruce Ohr and Chris Steele meet for the first time. Steele is working for MI6 at the time, and Ohr was in the Organized Crime and Racketeering Section of the Criminal Division of the US DOJ. This excerpt is from the Joint House Committees on Oversight and Judiciary interview of Bruce Ohr on August 28, 2018. The person asking the question is Valerie Shen, who identified herself as the chief national security counsel for Elijah Cummings.

May 19, 2008. “NEW YORK CITY, NY – MAY 19: (L-R) Donald Trump, Jeff Zucker and Al Roker attend AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE 68th Annual Spring Gala at Metropolitan Opera House on May 19, 2008 in New York City. (Photo by BILLY FARRELL/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images)”

December 1, 2008. Donald Trump and Jeff Zucker attend a book party of Sloan Barnett. Ghislaine Maxwell, Melania Trump, Caryn Zucker, and Steve Mnuchin also attended.

2010. Glenn Simpson founded Fusion GPS.

November 30, 2010. Donald Trump and Jeff Zucker backstage at the 2010 Rockefeller Center tree lighting at Rockefeller Center in New York City.

November 2012. CNN hires former NBC Universal President Jeff Zucker to be the new President of CNN. On November 5, 2012, Donald Trump tweets: “@CNN is looking at Jeff Zucker to lead them out of the forest–Jeff would be a great choice.”

November 9, 2013. Trump opens the Miss Universe pageant at the Moscow Ritz-Carlton.

2014. Bruce Ohr and Chris Steele discussed recruiting Oleg Deripaska.

May 2014. The Zuckers and the Kushners spend some quality time together.

May/June 2015. On December 21, 2018. Cheri Jacobus, who was once asked to join Trump’s campaign team by Corey Lewandowski, tweets: “Trump would never have come even close to being the GOP nominee had it not been for his unethical deal with his good pals, @FOXNews’ Roger Ailes and @CNN’s Jeff Zucker.  Lewandowski bragged to me in May/June 2015 that Trump had them ‘in his pocket’”

August 19, 2015. CNN Commentary: “Donald Trump spoke candidly about his relationship with CNN boss Jeff Zucker (who was previously his own boss at NBC). Asked by the Hollywood Reporter if he and Zucker discussed CNN and its coverage of Trump, he replied, ‘Jeff is a friend of mine, but if I didn’t get ratings he would not have all Trump all the time. I kid him about it. He wants to do documentaries. I say, ‘Jeff, I don’t have time.’ But when I go on, the meter jumps. He should pay me a fortune, right? They should all pay me for this. I’m doing this for nothing.’ He also remarked on how CNN has ‘been wild about the whole Trump thing, whatever that is’ — which is definitely true. At one point, CNN had mentioned Trump more than 400 times — which was more than any other candidate.”

September 2015. The Hill: “The Homeland Security Department confirmed Friday that Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya was granted special entry to the United States on multiple occasions in 2015 and 2016 at the request of the Justice Department.  It also said Veselnitskaya eventually won a nonimmigrant work visa around the time she met President Trump’s eldest son in New York last summer…” “A federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan told the court in a hearing in January 2016 that the ‘extraordinary circumstances’ parole request needed to be approved by Attorney General Loretta Lynch.” So if Veselnitskaya was conspiring against the Clinton campaign, why would Loretta Lynch intervene on her behalf to offer favoritism in the visa process? Simple. In my opinion, Trump and Clinton, or the right/left choice, are controlled by the same group of people. Transnational crime had enough dirt on the Clintons to tell them to let Veselnitskaya in against their interests. Hillary didn’t even mention Trump and Epstein’s rape of a 13 year-old girl, reported in a lawsuit which had an eyewitness deposition. Politicians pay good money for “opposition research.” With these two, not only are they both associated with the same opposition research firm (Fusion GPS), they don’t even mention the most damning allegations available. (Epstein on both camps). How obvious does it have to be people.

September/October 2015. The Free Beacon, funded by billionaire Paul Singer, hires Fusion GPS to conduct opposition research into Republican presidential candidates including Donald Trump. Paul Singer was backing Marco Rubio. The following screenshot is from an interview of Glenn Simpson on November 14, 2017, by Trey Gowdy of the House Intelligence Committee.

Late 2015. Nellie Ohr, Bruce Ohr’s wife, begins working for Fusion GPS as open source research on Russia. The following screenshot is from an interview of Bruce Ohr on August 28, 2018, by Trey Gowdy of the House Judiciary Committee.

It may be relevant to point out here that Mikhail Lesin was murdered November 5, 2015. Bruce Ohr said that his wife Nellie Ohr was hired to work for Fusion GPS in “late 2015” on “broader portfolio” than just Trump.

December 3, 2015. Hollywood Reporter: “’Everybody was looking for their Survivor,’ explained Zucker, invoking CBS’ once-monster unscripted hit. ‘There’s no question that The Apprentice made Donald Trump an even bigger celebrity than he already was, but he was already a celebrity. That’s the legacy part that I play in furthering Donald Trump’s career. I have no regrets about that. The Apprentice was a phenomenal hit for NBC for a long time.’  Flash forward 10-plus years, and Zucker is now taking criticism for giving the GOP presidential front-runner a platform on CNN. Of course, virtually every other TV news outlet also has featured the quotable Trump heavily. Meanwhile, Trump has bombastically declared that he is responsible for CNN’s ratings while asserting that the cable news network should pay him to appear at the Republican debates.”

January 12, 2016. Chris Steele emails Bruce Ohr about Oleg Deripaska. Steele expressed hope that Deripaska would be granted a visa to enter the United States. Washington Examiner: “‘I heard from Adam WALDMAN [a Deripaska lawyer/lobbyist] yesterday that OD is applying for another official US visa ice [sic] APEC business at the end of February,’ Steele wrote in the Jan . 12 email. Steele said Deripaska was being ‘encouraged by the Agency guys who told Adam that the USG [United States Government] stance on [Deripaska] is softening.’ Steele concluded: ‘A positive development it seems.’”

April/May 2016. The Free Beacon, funded by Paul Singer backing Marco Rubio, stops funding Fusion GPS after it is clear that Donald Trump will win the Republican nomination. Perkins Coie (Hillary Clinton’s campaign) hires Fusion GPS at this point, and then Fusion GPS quickly hires Christopher Steele. The following screenshots are from an interview of Glenn Simpson on November 14, 2017, by Trey Gowdy of the House Intelligence Committee.

May 31, 2016. CNN publishes a compilation of “Trump’s jabs at the press.” Trump is being very offensive to CNN and others in the media in this well-documented video of Trump’s remarks and dates. What I didn’t see at the time that I believe now is that Trump and CNN were creating “false opposition” with each other. In other words, to distract the public from the allegations of murder and Treason, the public had to think that Trump and CNN were enemies as CNN and Trump publicly sparred in a high-ratings scripted drama over a “pee tape” that probably never existed. The problem for Trump is, Buzzfeed published most of the dossier anyway and the FBI didn’t bother with the “pee tape.”

June 8, 2016. Veselnitskaya meets with Glenn Simpson.

June 9, 2016. Donald Trump Jr., Paul Manafort, Natalia Veselnitskaya, Rinat Akhmetshin, Ike Kaveladze, Aras Agalarov, Emin Agalarov, Rob Goldstone, Jared Kushner, and others at meet at Trump Tower. NBC News:Information that Veselnitskaya brought to Trump Tower in June 2016 stemmed from research conducted by Fusion GPS.  Veselnitskaya says she first received the supposedly incriminating information she brought to Trump Tower — describing alleged tax evasion and donations to Democrats — from Glenn Simpson, the Fusion GPS owner.” This is a major point to consider. Fusion GPS provided information to the Clinton camp on Trump, and to the Trump camp on Clinton. It raises the question of where Glenn Simpson’s true loyalty lied. It means that Fusion GPS could have deliberately seeded the “Steele dossier” with disinformation to favor Trump.

June 10, 2016. Veselnitskaya meets again with Glenn Simpson.

June 16-19, 2016. Sergei Millian attends the St. Petersburg Economic Forum. Also in attendance were Vladimir Putin and Oleg Deripaska, as reported by EmptyWheel, who further reported that Millian and Deripaska had a “meeting.” It’s widely assumed that Millian was “Source D,” and I agree, but there’s a chance that Millian got some of his information from Deripaska and relayed it secondhand. In something of a non-denial denial, Millian told the Daily Caller that he was “not in Moscow on that night.”

June 20, 2016. June 20, 2016 is the date that Christopher Steele wrote a summary of information given to him by Sources D and E about “golden showers.”

July 2016. Sergei gives an interview to ABC where he describes his relationship with the Trump Organization. http://abcn.ws/2jWRUtP

Sergei Millian: “I became the official broker for Trump Hollywood… A nice percentage out of all the units sold, 200 units, they were sold to Russians… Overall, Trump has done significant business with Russians. The level of business amounts to hundreds of millions of dollars that he received as a result of interaction with Russian businessmen… He likes Russia because he likes beautiful Russian ladies, and he likes talking to them of course, and he likes to make lots of money with Russians, yes correct.”

July 30, 2016. Bruce Ohr and Chris Steele have a conversation.   Ohr:  “In the July 30th conversation, one of the items of information that Chris Steele gave to me was that he had information that a former head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, the SVR, had stated to someone — I didn’t know who — that they had Donald Trump over a barrel.”  This screenshot is from Ohr’s interview by Gowdy as well. (In my opinion Russia probably did have Trump over a barrel, but not with any “pee tape.”)

August 2016. Bruce Ohr meets with Glenn Simpson, who provides Ohr with “possible intermediaries” of Russia with the Trump campaign.  Bruce Ohr explains that he’s known Glenn Simpson and Christopher Steele for “many years,” and that they provided him with information related to investigations of organized crime. Excerpt is from the interview of Bruce Ohr by Trey Gowdy.

The only name Bruce Ohr gave Trey Gowdy about Russian intermediaries was Sergei Millian.

Early August 2016. FBI agents in Rome receive the first two memos of Christopher Steele.

September 2016. “In British court filings, Mr. Steele’s lawyers said that he and Fusion GPS briefed journalists from a range of media outlets, including The New York Times, on his research starting in September 2016.” Later this article would be referenced as an inappropriate sharing of information with the media which led to the FBI firing Christopher Steele as an informant to the FBI, although Steele disputes this characterization of events.

Early October 2016. Sergei Millian “disappeared” according to a conversation that Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kathleen Kavalec had with Christopher Steele. Katleen relayed the conversation to Bruce Ohr in an email November 21, 2016.

December 09, 2016. John McCain delivers the “Steele Dossier” to James Comey.

December 10, 2016. From an interview of Bruce Ohr released by the FBI in response to a FOIA request from Judicial Watch. FBI:   “OHR had breakfast at Peet’s Coffee, 11th and E St. NW, Washington, D.C. with Glenn Simpson at 10:00 A.M. on December 10, 2016. During breakfast Simpson provided OHR with an 8GB Verbatim USB micro digital media drive (thumb drive). OHR does not know what is on the thumb drive but believes it is in regards to the work (REDACTED) was hired to do for Simpson.”

This event was also discussed between Trey Gowdy and Bruce Ohr.

December 26, 2016. Independent: “Former KGB chief Oleg Erovinkin, who was suspected of helping British spy Christopher Steele draft a dossier on Donald Trump, was found dead in the back of his car last Boxing Day.”  Erovinkin was a key aide to Igor Sechin. Christopher Steele’s dossier reported having a source close to Igor Sechin. Steele dated the following excerpt July 19, 2016.

January 06, 2017. FBI Director James Comey briefs President-elect Trump in Trump Tower.  The conversation moved to prostitutes and CNN’s reporting. The following text is an excerpt of Comey’s memo he wrote the next day to document the meeting.

James Comey: “I said the Russians allegedly had tapes involving him and prostitutes at the Presidential Suite at the Ritz Carlton in Moscow from about 2013. He interjected, “there were no prostitutes; there were never prostitutes.” He then said something about him being the kind of guy who didn’t need to “go there” and laughed (which I understood to be communicating that he didn’t need to pay for sex). He said “2013” to himself, as if trying to remember that period of time, but didn’t add anything. He said he always assumed that hotel rooms he stayed in when he travels are wired in some way. I replied that I do as well.”

“I said I wasn’t saying this was true, only that I wanted him to know both that it had been reported and that the reports were in many hands. I said media like CNN had them and were looking for a news hook. I said it was important that we not give them the excuse to write that the FBI has the material or REDACTED and that we were keeping it very close-hold.  He said he couldn’t believe they hadn’t gone with it.  I said it was inflammatory stuff that they would get killed for reporting straight up from the source reports.”

January 10, 2017. Buzzfeed releases most of the Steele Dossier. The New York Times reported this day that many news organizations had reviewed the “dossier” by this point, but refused to publish it. The Times further noted that CNN had reported on January 10 that Trump was briefed on this document by intelligence officials (as is confirmed by James Comey’s January 06, 2017 memo). A link to CNN’s January 10 article was unavailable when I searched for it. CNN did not publish any details of this briefing in the January 10 article, according to the New York Times article. The Times reported CNN’s response to Buzzfeed: “CNN’s decision to publish carefully sourced reporting about the operations of our government is vastly different than BuzzFeed’s decision to publish unsubstantiated claims,” the statement reads, in part.” In other words, CNN wanted you to know what they wanted to tell you instead of letting you read the original source. That’s more evidence that CNN wanted to create a co-managed controversy with the President.

Buzzfeed reported later on March 27, 2018 that there was another part of the Steele Dossier that has never been seen by the public, or even Congress as far as has been reported. Buzzfeed: “The FBI possesses a secret report asserting that Vladimir Putin’s former media czar was beaten to death by hired thugs in Washington, DC — directly contradicting the US government’s official finding that Mikhail Lesin died by accident. (Paragraph). The report, according to four sources who have read all or parts of it, was written by the former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele, who also wrote the famous dossier alleging that Russia had been “cultivating, supporting and assisting” Donald Trump.” Supposedly the FBI has these other memos from Christopher Steele about the murder of Mikhail Lesin.

January 11, 2017. Politico: Donald Trump holds “first press conference in months” and refuses to take a question from CNN’s Jim Acosta. ‘Your organization is terrible,’ Trump shouted at Acosta during the conference, after Acosta tried to ask Trump a question. ‘I am not going to give you a question. You are fake news.’ Acosta, appearing on CNN after the press conference, said that Spicer threatened to throw him out of the conference if he tried to ask another question.” Acosta and Trump have maintained a public feud ever since.

January 20, 2017. Glenn Simpson calls Bruce Ohr.   Topic:  concerned that one of Chris Steele’s “sources” would be supposed putting him in danger.

Around January 20, 2017. Sergei Millian meets with George Papadopoulos. Washington Post: “Around the time of President Trump’s inauguration, two of his supporters met to toast the new administration at the Russia House, a Washington restaurant known among Russian diplomats and emigres for its vodka and caviar.   The Dupont Circle spot was suggested by Sergei Millian, according to onetime Trump foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos, who said he met with the Belarus-born businessman there.”

January 20, 2017. Christopher Steele contacts Bruce Ohr and informs him that he is concerned that one of his sources may be in danger because upcoming news report may expose the source.

January 24, 2017. The Wall Street Journal reported that Sergei Millian was both Source D and E.

January 27, 2017. President Trump meets with FBI Director James Comey in the “Green Room” at the White House at Trump’s request. Trump suggested to Comey that the FBI should investigate the “golden showers thing.” From Comey’s memo he wrote the next day, January 28:

“At about this point, he turned to what he called the “golden showers thing” and recounted much of what he had said previously on that topic. He repeated that it was a complete fabrication and “fake news.” I explained again why I had thought it important that he know about it. I also explained that one of the reasons we told him was that the media, CNN in particular, was telling us they were about to run with it. He said it bothered him if his wife thought there was even a one percent chance it was true in any respect. He said he had spoken to people who had been on the Miss Universe trip with him and they had reminded him that he didn’t stay over night in Russia for that. He said he arrived in the morning, did events, then showered and dressed for the pageant. Afterwards, he returned only to get his things because they departed for New York by plane that same night. He said he thought maybe he should ask me to investigate to the whole thing to prove it was a lie. I did not ask any questions. I replied that it was up to him. but I wouldn’t want to create a narrative that we were investigating him, because we are not and I worried such a thing would be misconstrued. I also said that it is very difficult to disprove a lie. He said “maybe you’re right,” but several times asked me to think about it and said he would also think about it.”

January 31, 2017. “Bruce Ohr stated he had been contacted by Christopher Steele, via WhatsApp, on January 31, 2017. On January 30, 2017, the Trump Administration fired Acting Attorney General Sally Q. Yates and Steele had contacted OHR to determine if OHR anticipated being fired as well and, if so, who in the Department of Justice could he continue to reach out to. OHR added that he had previously explained to Steele at some point, his contact with the U.S. Government would have to involve the FBI. Interviewing agents asked OHR to ask Steele if he would be comfortable getting the name of an FBI agent.”

April 24, 2017. A good summary of CNN’s coverage of Trump by the New York Times: “But CNN was the first major news organization to give Trump’s campaign prolonged and sustained attention. He was a regular guest in the network’s studios from the earliest days of the Republican primaries, often at Zucker’s suggestion. (For a while, according to the MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, Trump referred to Zucker as his “personal booker.”) When Trump preferred not to appear in person, he frequently called in. Nor did CNN ever miss an opportunity to broadcast a Trump rally or speech, building the suspense with live footage of an empty lectern and breathless chyrons: “DONALD TRUMP EXPECTED TO SPEAK ANY MINUTE.” Kalev Leetaru, a data scientist, using information obtained from the TV News Archive, calculated that CNN mentioned Trump’s name nearly eight times more frequently than that of the second-place finisher, Ted Cruz, during the primaries.”

May 09, 2017. FBI Director James Comey is fired.

May 12, 2017. Bruce Ohr asks Steele if he would be willing to meet with FBI agents.

July 2, 2017. President Trump “tweets” a wrestling video modified to look like Trump is beating CNN.

August 22, 2017. The Senate Judiciary Committee interviews Glenn Simpson of Fusion GPS. One line of questioning that I found very interesting was the numbering system of Chris Steele’s memos, which skipped 5 numbers. I wonder if these skipped numbers represent the information the FBI reviewed from Christopher Steele on the murder of Mikhail Lesin. Glenn Simpson did not provide helpful answers to questions about the numbering system that Fusion GPS assigned to Chris Steele’s memos, in my opinion. Judge for yourself. I note that Simpson responded with the qualifier “as part of this engagement” when asked “does this represent the entire universe of memos that Mr. Steele created as part of this particular engagement for you.”

November 16, 2017. Chuck Grassley and Diane Feinstein of the Senate Judiciary Committee say Jared Kushner withheld emails with Sergei Millian. “In addition, there are several documents that are known to exist but were not included in your production. For example, other parties have produced September 2016 email communications to Mr. Kushner concerning WikiLeaks, which Mr. Kushner then forwarded to another campaign official. Such documents should have been produced in response to the third request but were not. Likewise, other parties have produced documents concerning a “Russian backdoor overture and dinner invite” which Mr. Kushner also forwarded. And still others have produced communications with Sergei Millian, copied to Mr. Kushner. Again, these do not appear in Mr. Kushner’s production despite being responsive to the second request. You also have not produced any phone records that we presume exist and would relate to Mr. Kushner’s communications regarding several requests.” So this raises the question if Jared Kushner was involved in a disinformation effort involving the “pee tape,” not to mention whatever Kushner’s involvement with Wikileaks was.

March 4, 2018. Sergei Skripal and his daughter were nearly killed by poison. Some have posited that Skripal was a source for Christopher Steele. Prime Minister Theresa May told Russia that two of their intelligence officers must be “brought to justice” and that the Salisbury attack can “never be repeated.” In January 2019, the Telegraph published an article speculating that Russia deliberately created a link between Skripal and Steele in order to start a conspiracy that MI6, and not Russia, was responsible for the assassination attempt on the Skripals. Here are my thoughts. In the midst of all this finger-pointing, if party A proves that party B is guilty, that does not prove that party A is innocent. Both A and B may be guilty. With Christopher Steele alone, we have a former top-level MI6 officer with 20+ years experience providing counterintelligence information to American political parties based on Russian contacts he gained in the course of his employment. The worldwide intelligence community seems to be a sea of blurred gray lines instead of bright ones that are never crossed.

There is little doubt that Steele debriefed Skripal in the course of Steele’s employment at MI6 from 1987-2009. Whether or not Skripal was a “source” in Steele’s dossier seems a trivial detail in the big picture. The information Skripal would have provided in dossier (as a “former top level Russian intelligence officer”) is simply background that Russia had been cultivating Donald Trump as an asset, something proven under a subsequent avalanche of public media reports of Trump’s extensive ties to Russian oligarchs. Skripal was a former Russian intelligence officer himself and a double agent for the KGB and MI6. The assassination attempt at Skripal was likely not because of what was actually in the dossier, but the amount of knowledge that Skripal possessed going forward. Certainly Skripal was a liability to Russia, but it cannot be ruled out that his knowledge of “dirt” on the UK was not a factor as well.

SUMMARY

Oleg Erovkin certainly appears to be one of Christopher Steele’s sources in his dossier. Erovkin was rather obviously murdered in Moscow. In addition to numerous reports that Sergei Millian was “Source D” on the “pee tape,” the close proximity in time where Steele said one of his source’s life would be in danger due to an upcoming media report in few days after January 20, 2017, followed by the WSJ article naming Sergei as that source, seems to strongly confirm that Millian was indeed that source.

Apparently, at least one of Steele’s sources (Erovkin) was murdered, another source’s life (Millian) was endangered, and one source with connections to Steele (Skripal) was the subject of an assassination attempt which very nearly took his life. It seems to me that this systematic destruction of witnesses is more related to Steele’s unpublished reporting of another murder (Lesin) than Steele’s report of a “pee tape.”

I have speculated in another article that, in fact; there was a grand jury investigating the murders of Mikhail Lesin and Seth Rich in 2016, and Russian ties to those murders; that this investigation was obstructed by Donald Trump when he took office; and that this grand jury investigation is the main reason Trump fired Comey. In my opinion, Trump pushed the suggestion that Comey should investigate the “pee tape” in a manner which would capture the public’s attention (with the help of CNN) and discredit the Steele dossier. At the time of Trump and Comey’s private meetings, Comey would be familiar with the murder/sex distraction that Trump was forcing, as Comey was one of the first to investigate the so-called “suicide” of Vince Foster and whether Hillary Clinton removed documents from his office (source- Comey’s interview with George Stephanopoulos). Comey of course would have seen Foster’s murder investigation fade from public reporting and ultimately turn into allegations of sex between Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky. Whatever intelligence service(s) wrote the Trump/Russia/Grand Jury distraction likely injected the “pee tape” as disinformation to attract public attention and discredit Steele’s dossier as the original sources in Steele’s dossier were eliminated.
