Kobe Bryant honored in video a day before late star’s birthday for relaunch of Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation

THE MAMBA & Mambacita Sports Foundation honors Kobe Bryant’s life and legacy through a video posted the day before his birthday.

Bryant, who would have turned 42 on Sunday, is featured in several photos from games over the years.

Nike kicked off “Mamba Week” on Sunday to celebrate Bryant’s life and career[/caption]

“Better tomorrow. Better forever,” the foundation captioned the video.

The video was produced was Nike and helps kick off Nike’s “Mamba Week” starting Sunday which is celebrating Bryant’s career and life, People reported.

Bryant is heard in the video through a voiceover speaking one of his most famous lines.

“I don’t care who you are, where you’re from, doesn’t matter,” he said. “You wake up every single day to get better today than you were yesterday. That’s always the most important thing.”

The Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation is furthering Kobe and Gianna Bryant’s legacy through charitable endeavors in sports, according to their Instagram.

The Foundation posted the video Saturday afternoon at 2:24p.m., honoring Gianna, who wore the number two for her teams and Bryant who wore 24 when playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.

They also released a new website, mambaandmambacita.org.

Earlier this year, the foundation changed their name to The Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation from The Mamba Sports Foundation in commemoration of the basketball star and his daughter.

Bryant died in a helicopter crash in January along with his daughter Gianna and seven others, on their way to a basketball game.

Also honoring Bryant this week is the Los Angeles Lakers.

Players reportedly plan to wear ‘Black Mamba’ Kobe Bryant jerseys in the playoffs on Monday August 24.


Last week, the Orange County Board of Supervisors proclaimed August 24 as Kobe Bryant Day in Orange County, California, where he lived.

“A treasured member of our Orange County community, Kobe Bryant was the basketball legend that inspired so many young men and women to pursue their dreams and never give up,” said Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Michelle Steel, according to CNN.

Bryant is survived by Vanessa, whom he married in 2001, and their daughters Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and Capri, 1.
